Denny's original character, the Critterman, is a hermit who grew up in the company of wolves and other animals from the wild North Woods. He is very shy of us two-legged human types, and he is a bit weird because he only knows bits and pieces of how we live. He may seem gruff and cranky, but he is really afraid of us, and tries to keep us at a distance by some of his behavior. He is really a teddy bear under all that growling, so there is no need to be scared of him – he really wants to like us. He is a little wary of humans because of the way we treat his four-legged friends. None of the wild critters trust us completely, including Critterman.
